The Supreme Court issued its opinion in Doe v. Reed today, holding that compelled disclosure of petition signatures must be analyzed under the First Amendment, but does not necessarily violate the First Amendment. The Court remanded the case for further consideration. The decision is 8-1 with Justice Thomas dissenting. Several Justices filed concurring opinions. We will have analysis of the opinion shortly.
